Abstract

This is an academic monograph on Huang's family history in Zhuqiao, Yuyao.This book makes an analysis of the cultural property, spirit and the social and ecological environment related to the development of Huang's family from the perspective of family culture and genealogy, with the 800 years'history of Huang's family as the vertical angle and the representative figures'life story in the family as the horizontal angle for research.The book is divided into 8 chapters.The First Chapter gives a general introduction of the representative figures'deeds in Huang's family from the Southern Song Dynasty to Mid Ming Dynasty.The Second Chapter explores into Huang Zunsu's deeds, the key figure in Huang's family, in the Late Min Dynasty. The Third Chapter gives an overall and systematic introduction of Huang Zongxi, a prominent figure in Huang's family, in the Late Ming Dynasty and Early Qing Dynasty.Chapter Four introduces the main deeds of Huang Zongyan and Huang Zonghui, the important figures in the family, in the Early Qing Dynasty.Chapter Five studies Huang Baijia, the successor of Huang's family literature, in the Early Qing Dynasty. Chapter Six gives a brief introduction to the representative figures in Huang's family from the Late Ming Dynasty to Late Qing Dynasty.Chapter Seven presents the main achievements of Huang Binghou, the famous scholar in Huang's family in Late Qing Dynasty.Chapter Eight gives a general introduction of“Huang's Family Record”“Huang's Family Record Continued”and five columns of“Huang's Family Genealogy in Zhuqiao”. This book, by researches into the representative figures in Huang's family, intends to reveal the cultural value orientation, cultural soft power of the family, their national and family identity and their significant contribution and far-reaching influence on Modern Chinese historical and cultural process in different historical periods.
